Lead Chef

Set in a picturesque village in Southwest France this well-established owner run modern bistro and bar is looking for a well-organised and enthusiastic Chef to lead the small kitchen team for the rest of this year. The 60-cover restaurant, covered terrace, and bar serves a seasonal contemporary European menu based on fresh local produce and classic cooking techniques. This includes Brunch dishes, light lunches, a Sunday Lunch, and a more formal dinner menu.  As much as possible is made in-house.

Role:

  • Head of Department:
  • Run the kitchen day-to-day.
  • Create menus to delight customers.
  • Work with the Owners to achieve the business’ objectives:
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory regulations & legislation.

 

The Candidate:
Our ideal candidate will have several years experience in a similar busy fresh food kitchen as Sous Chef or maybe a Senior CDP. You must be happy working with the hands-on owners and be competent operating a kitchen management system in line with current EU legislation, previous work in France would be an advantage.

 

Required: Qualifications / Skills / Experience

  • Passion and enthusiasm for food and quality,
  • Strong background in Grill for both Meat and Fish.
  • Experience of Vegetarian/Vegan cooking.
  • Enjoys a busy service.
  • Some kitchen management experience

 

This is an English-speaking kitchen, but a good level of spoken French would be an advantage.

This opportunity might suit a Sous Chef or Senior CDP ready to step up and run their own kitchen team.

  • Contract: April 2024 to Jan 2025, with the option to extend
  • 43 hours a week (overtime available)
  • Closed Monday & Tuesday
  • Package includes flights and help with accommodation.
  • Salary: up to 2,900€ a month + tax free tips
